Totally Stumped: “The Voice’s” Dramatic, Confusing First Battle Rounds

The Voice” traded in one awesome gimmick for an even awesome-er one this week, as the chair-spinning Blind Auditions segued into the head-spinning Battle Rounds, aka the reality-TV singing world’s own version of the UFC. Because if there’s one thing that’s cooler than watching Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green sit on motorized thrones and fight over prospective contestants, it’s watching those contestants fight each other in a neon boxing ring–”singing in harmony and secretly trying to destroy each other,” as Adam Levine so excitingly worded it on this Monday’s first Battle Rounds episode.

‘The Voice’ Recap: A Misstep by Blake Shelton?

Two men singing Alicia Keys, two women singing Tom Petty: Literally the best and worst of “The Voice” as it moves from blind auditions to the battle rounds that pit singers against each other in front of their coaches.

Jesse Campbell gave the performance of the night on Keys’ “I Ain’t Got You” and unfortunately for Anthony Evans, his performance on the same song was the second or third best performance of the night.

Video: Tulsa country singer Adley Stump makes Blake Shelton’s team on “The Voice”

Oklahoma country music star Blake Shelton filled the final spot on his 12-contender team on the second season of “The Voice” with a fellow Oklahoma country singer.

On Monday night’s episode, Tulsan Adley Stump, a recent Oklahoma State University graduate, got both Shelton and pop belter Christina Aguilera to turn their big red chairs when she used her unusual deep and lovely voice to deliver a feisty cover of Checotah native Carrie Underwood’s smash “Last Name.”

Coaches Finalize Their Teams on The Voice

The blind auditions came to an end Monday night on The Voice as each coachChristina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green – finalized his and her team, landing 12 contestants each.

First, though, came the shock of turning around and seeing Cameron Novack (aka Novacaine), who didn’t make it on to anyone’s team.

Oklahoma State University graduate gains her spot on NBC’s “The Voice”

STILLWATER, Okla. — An Oklahoma State University graduate showed her talent to millions watching the NBC show “The Voice” Monday night.

Adley Stump, a 23-year-old native of Tulsa, sang her rendition of Carrie Underwood’s song “Last Name” to the show’s four coaches – Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Christina Aguilera.

Stump, who was one of the last participants in the “blind audition” round of the show, performed Carrie Underwood’s single “Last Name”.

Originally from Tulsa, the 22-year-old first found her singing direction while getting a degree in public relations at Oklahoma State.

The singer had to pick which coach she wanted on Monday night (February 27) after impressing both with her blind audition performance of ‘Last Night’ by Carrie Underwood.
